- CLK supports both simplified and traditional Chinese language on a non-Chinese system and on WorldScript Savvy applications. Program supports GB and Big5 code sets. It also comes with Apple TrueType Chinese fonts: two Traditional (in Big5) and four Simplified (in GB). However, there is no simple conversion utility on the Macintosh at present, between GB and Big-5 codes. Pacific Rim offers conversion services. The Chinese Talk (System 7.1CS & 7.5 CT) are available for people who want to work completely in Chinese on their Macintosh.
- Chinese TurboWriter 2.3 (CD ROM) gives the best overall input system for Traditional and Simplified Chinese: it can do vertical layout, it has a built-in bilingual dictionary, and its formatted files will be accepted with layout into Pagemaker 5.0C/5.0J. This new version of TurboWriter also allows the user to add in PinYin (including tone marks) when working in Simplified Chinese, or Zhu Yin annotation when working in Traditional Chinese.
- The WinText 2.7 is multilingual and comes with a special set of Chinese input and editing tools (called Sindex) that are quite powerful and desirable for both simplified and traditional Chinese. It can look up homonyms for Chinese characters in any document, can input by radicals, and punctuation. It also has a FEP(Front End Processor) with a user dictionary that one can customize. Wintext can handle Japanese and (Hebrew/Arabic) simultaneously with Chinese.
