The Pauline authorship of Second Epistle to the Corinthians is not in doubt; however, its unity is. In some ways this letter is the most Pauline of all of his letters. It has long been recognized as providing valuable motivation for the believer in daily life, and for the Church in its service to the Lord. The letter's seemingly lack of unity is well-known by biblical scholars. This is also true for those who diagram it.

Like First Epistle to the Corinthians, this letter is an excellent example of apostle's Paul's full-orbed literary style due to its length. His deliberate rhetoric addresses the emotions, human desire, and the necessary steps to correct the on-going problems that the Corinthian assembly was experiencing. It was probably written about a year after the First Epistle to the Corinthians. Its contents are extraordinarily connected with those of the former letter.

The manner in which Paul wrote the former letter, it was well received. Many indicated repentance and had corrected their conduct. Paul's affection toward the recipients had not waned. The first six chapters address practical issues in the assembly, the remainder of the letter refers to the state of it. Even in the latter portion, Paul sets forth many regulations for correct conduct among each other.

There are an extraordinary number of Greek participles in this letter that function as part of a periphrastic construction. At several instances the syntax is broken and special attention is required to keep Paul's continuity. It is recommended that this diagram set be purchased after at least three semesters of Greek or equivalent because of Paul's involved literary syntax and moderate amount of vocabulary required to read this letter.
